Food(s) to Live..Without

Okay, here we go and I hope this isn't "just another diet" page to you. My hope is that I can convey to you the importance of your diet.

Did you know that you are on a diet right now? Yes what you eat every day is your diet. So hopefully that takes away the ugly connotation that goes along with the word 'diet'.

What is essential here is for you to understand, comprehend, grasp, fully take in and let it become a real revelation to you that, you are no longer ever going to "diet".

What you are going to do is change the way you 'look' at what you eat. You must look at food and determine if it is good for you, is it ultimately going to benefit you, is it to your benefit or detriment?

What many people don't know and most doctors won't tell you is how foods affect your body, especially the bad foods. I'll tell you shortly, what 'bad foods' are, and not only that but you'll see 'why' they are bad foods, as well.

Not to stray away from this conversation, but in order to clarify a point and to give you understanding on where my opinion comes from, I need to ask you a question.

Do you believe in God?...don't leave me just yet, hear me out first. If you believe what God says in the bible and are familiar with the ways people have handled what he has said in the bible, then you have seen how ordinary people, like you and me, have taken the bible and when they did not like something or disagreed with something said in the bible, they spun off and started a "new" religion. That is why there are so many denominations.

Now my point is and this is Totally my opinion, but based on my experience, that Dr Atkins diet "IS" the bible of ALL DIETS. I believe every diet, has spun off of his. I believe he was a doctor who genuinely cared about people and died I think, an untimely death. His words about diet spoke TRUTH to me, as I read and reread what he had to say in his book Dr. Atkin's Diet Revolution.

I believe when you read his books, Dr. Atkin's Diet Revolution, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, Revised Edition, or Dr. Atkins' Age-Defying Diet you will be convinced as well to what I am saying. I am not a doctor, so I had a little (probably more than a little..) difficulty comprehending all he said in his book, the first time I read it. So I read and reread until I got it.

It truly hit a nerve with me, because He was Speaking TRUTH, which seems unusual these days.

Now, doctors sometimes won't tell you total truths and will even tell you to "Stay Away" from Atkins diet.



Here I have a Prime example. I have a brother-in-law recently diagnosed with diabetes. (And for those of you Who Don't Know, Mr/Dr. Atkins goes into Great detail about diabetes in his book).

My brother in law came over shortly after being diagnosed, to work on my computer. And at this point I was very well educated on the subject of diabetes. So I started asking him what the doctor told him to do.

He replied with well I can do this and can't do that, but He told me to "Stay away from the Atkins" diet. Inside, I LAUGHED!!! I thought to myself, this doctor would rather keep my brother-in-law 'dependent' on him rather than help him GET WELL!!

So I proceeded to ask my Brother-in-law, well can you eat "so & so"...he replied, "yea", and I said, can you eat "so & so" and again his reply was "yea" and after doing this for a few minutes , I finally told him, it sounds to me like you can do what Atkins tells you to do, the doctor does not want you to "know the Truth" and as the bible teaches, "know the truth and the truth will set you free" and in his case, it would be free from the doctor. Which IS NOT what the doctor wanted.

It is sometimes a sad day we live in, to know that that doctors check book is more important to him, than helping my brother-in-law with a real life threatening problem. One eye opening revelation about doctors that I saw immediately after having this conversation with him.

You do know there are two types of diabetes, right? The one type you are born with and to date is incurable, and the other kind, we cause.



Anyway...What I want you to know, Above all else about diet, is what helps YOU LOSE WEIGHT!

How do I KNOW? I have done this new way of eating for six years plus and IT WORKS. It is not necessarily always Easy, but It works. In fact, truthfully, I don't do it right 100% of the time and I still maintain my weight.

I will explain what I have learned as best and as briefly as I can, the rest will be up to you...OK?

*****************SUGAR is the 'First Fuel' Your Body Burns*****************
Understand this:
When you feed your body ANY kind of Sugar, that is what your body burns as fuel, first. Now if you feed your body to much sugar, your body Never gets past...burning up the sugar for fuel and in fact stores the excess sugar as...what? You guessed it, FAT.

Is This New to You? It might be, with all the commercials we have today saying what is 'healthy'.

Now, you might be thinking as long as you stay away from candy bars, cakes and soda you're okay, Right?....NOPE...


Understand this, secondly:
Chips, crackers, bread, tortillas, pasta and yes cereal, even the sugarless, TURN INTO Sugar, Carbs, Carbohydrates, Bad Carbs, through the digestion of those foods. Eating these items is NO different than eating a CANDY BAR.


Understand Thirdly:
When you 'DENY' or 'STARVE' your body of any sugar, any carbs, your body has ""NO CHOICE"" but to start burning your stored BODY FAT... this is a state called KETOSIS.

Doctors will tell you, that your body needs sugars, that you need carbs. But I don't know that they truly define what carbs you do need, and also they don't tell you that you can safely go without Any carbohydrates for a good while.

Good carbohydrates come from Fruits and Vegetables. Any Berry is the Best Fruit and All Dark Green Veggies. But initially, when you really need to lose weight, you can and want to go without any carbohydrates whatsoever, so that you can put your body into the state of ketosis, which is when your body burns fat as fuel and begin to REALLY lose your weight. And, then, in time, you will gradually introduce back into your diet, those GOOD CARBS!

I like to look at Atkins diet as, if it is a God Given thing, it is good. If we put our hand to it, WE MESSED IT UP!!!


Understand Forthly: (is that a word?)
Sugar....Is a Drug and ALL of Society is HOOKED...LEGALLY! This is what makes Atkins hard. Going through Withdrawals, of any kind, off of any drug...is hard, downright difficult. Sugar is no different. It is a 'legalized drug' that ultimately causes major health problems over the long term.

I have told a few of my friends that have wondered how I lost weight, that there are those "times" during the month I just have to have something sweet. And I will get me something sweet. But I have made it a habit to not buy "Sweets" and keep them at my home. If I really have to have it, and it is that important I take the trip to go get it at that time. And there are other times where I 'feel" I am missing out on something so I might get one of those little "individual bite size" Reeces or Hershey bar. But I don't make it a habit.


And Understand Fifthly and Finally:
This diet is A High Fat and High Protein, Low Carb way of living. This "way of living" is not temporary, so don't kick yourself when you mess up, because you will mess up, expect to but begin again. Changing habits are hard, but can be done AND are very worthwhile.
