VITAMIN-B2 Is: A Water Soluble Supplement

RIBOFLAVIN BENEFITS:

VITAMIN-B2 IS USED FOR:
*It is required by the body for using oxygen
*It is required for metabolizing amino acids, fatty acids and
carbohydrates
*It is needed to activate vitamin B6
*It helps to create niacin
*It assists the adrenal gland
*It can be used for antibody production, cell respiration and
growth
*It is used for red blood cell formation
*It is needed if protein intake is high

SUPPLEMENTAL B2 IS:
A "Non-Essential" Vitamin, which means
It is manufactured from within the intestinal flora
Easily absorbed
Stored in very small quantities
Constantly needed by the body
Sensitive to light

VITAMIN B2 SOURCES:
Almonds, asparagus, bananas, chard, cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, fish,
leafy green vegetables, legumes, meat, milk, okra, yeast and yogurt

DEFICIENCY SIGNS INCLUDE:
Cracks and sores at the corners of the mouth
Eye disorders
Inflamation of the mouth and tongue
Skin lesions, dermatitis, dizziness, hair loss, insomnia, light
sensitivity, poor digestion, retarded growth and burning feet

TOXIC:
Riboflavin is not toxic when taken orally because of its low solubility
Toxic doses can be administered by injection
Excess is excreted in the urine with a bright yellow
discoloration, which is normal and harmless

TOXICITY SIGNS:
Vitamin B2 intake of many times the RDA is without
demonstratable toxicity

RDA:
1.6 mg per day for males
1.2 mg per day for females
50 mg is recommended for supplementation

MORE MAY BE NEEDED:
*when consuming alcohol
*when taking birth control pills &/or antibiotics
*when partaking in strenuous exercise
*when under excess stress
*when on a calorie restricted diet
